Thanks to their pronounced hygienic behaviour, the bees recognise damaged and Varroa-infested brood and remove it promptly. This means that the colonies are healthier and produce a higher yield.

We only sell Buckfast queens from our own breeding programme. We do not purchase any additional stock, which allows us to closely monitor all processes. Each queen is thoroughly inspected before leaving our apiary.

Our original genetics come from renowned breeders such as Dr Peter Stöfen, Lutz Eggert and Paul Jungels. Starting out as a pure breeding operation, we have been steadily expanding into breeding since 2023. To this end, we allow our queens to mate at various protected mating stations and test up to 70 queens per year in our own commercial colonies. From the 2026 season onwards, only resistant and permanently untreated breeding mothers will be used for rearing.
